Starting Diving

If you’re an 8-year-old who loves being in the water and wants to try something new, springboard diving may be the perfect sport for you! Springboard diving involves jumping and performing various flips and twists off a springboard into a pool. It’s a challenging and exhilarating sport that requires focus, discipline, and athleticism. Here are some tips to help you get started on your diving journey.

First, contact Upstate Diving Club [email protected]. Upstate Diving has coaches who can teach you the basics of springboard diving. Upstate Diving has experience working with children and emphasizes safety and proper technique. Upstate Diving coaches will teach you how to board pproaches, executing dives, and entering the water safely. They’ll also help you develop strength, flexibility, and balance through various exercises and drills.

Second, make sure you have the right equipment. You’ll need a swimsuit, towel, and a good sammy diving towel. No need to bring goggles! Upstate diving has specialized equipment for beginner divers. Upstate Diving has a 1 meter platform and four Springboards. It’s important to start on the right equipment that is safe and maintained correctly.

Finally, practice, practice, practice! Diving takes time and dedication to master, but with patience and perseverance, you can become a skilled diver. Work with your coach to set goals and track your progress. Remember to have fun and enjoy the thrill of jumping off the board and into the water.
